Once you have an idea for a design, this idea has to be turned into a repeat design so it can be repeated down the length of your fabric as one continuous print.
There are two options of how to make a repeat design. We can do all the work for you! Our in house design team can transform any idea into a design ready for yardage printing.
Or if you are feeling confident about doing your own artwork there are design specifications you need to consider for hand screen printing.
Here is a check list of our specifications for making a repeat design.
- Artwork to be produced in Illustrator or Photoshop.
- Maximum size of a repeat design is 70 x 145cm to fit screen size.
- Must be in repeat for hand printing.
- Any files over 8mb to be burnt to CD.
- Each colour of design separated into layers.
- All designs no matter what colour you want to print the design to be black.
- Save finalised design as a pdf.
IS THERE A FABRIC MINIMUM?
No, we charge in meterage increments, the more you print the cheaper the cost per metre becomes.
WHAT FABRICS CAN I PRINT ON?
We can print on any type of fabric with water based inks.
If you are wanting to print using dyes, 100% silk or 100% nylon has the best results. Other substrates may be used but would require testing to gain the best results.
DO I NEED TO ALLOW FOR EXTRA FABRIC?
Yes, depending on fabric type and print coverage on how much allowance you need to make. As a general rule please allow 10% wastage for all orders under 50 metres and 5% wastage for over 50 metres.
Our print tables are 22 metres long. Fabric will be cut at 20 metre intervals for water based inks.
Fabrics printed with dyes will be cut at 10 metre intervals due to fabric processing requirements.
WHAT IS THE TURNAROUND ONCE YOU HAVE RECEIVED THE ARTWORK AND FABRIC?
As a rule once the fabric has arrived at our studio please allow 2 weeks for an order to be filled. Depending on our production schedule, often work is completed within a week.
